INKTOBER 52 2024 Week #47: TRAIN.
“No pain, no gain! Feel the burn! Go hard or go home! Welcome to the gun show! Pick things up and put them down! Light weight, baby! Ain’t nothin’ but a peanut! If the shoe fits, eat it!
Not sure about that last one. Anywhat, PMD has invented a new compound exercise that very few people can replicate (on account of most people not having tails). ‘Training’ has been a major part of my life since I was a pre-teen. In those days it was pushups and sit-ups (because that’s all I knew and had access to), but in high school I started weightlifting in a friend’s garage (and anytime I smell the distinct odor of an oil furnace, I instantly remember those days). I also started running track and cross country, and in college I began my karate journey. These days my workouts are mostly focused on martial arts and gymnasticy/Ninja Warriorish bodyweight exercises, but I did start including one day of weight training a week again a while ago. It’s just fun and it helps get me stronger for the other things I like doing. Not only has being active been great for my physical health, but it is also the linchpin for my mental health. I’m not getting any younger, and my joints don’t always cooperate with me, but I still enjoy pushing myself and achieving new, personal, athletic goals and ‘unlocking’ new physical feats. If I had to sum myself up in two words, ‘art’ and ‘training’ would be pretty good candidates.
And in case anyone was wondering, no, I can’t curl 145 lbs, nor do I have a tail, but I’ve probably made that face before while working out.”
