Thea: The Little Witch-Thea Goes to School

Project Description

This is the first wholey original cover I did for L.S. Gagnon’s Little Witch series (meaning this book hasn’t been published with any other cover). I tried applying a few new techniques in its creation, which went fairly well. I also made a couple of custom brushes (for trees and grass). Here’s a two interesting factoids: my three sons are characters in this book, and, due to a miscommunication, the first version of the cover looked like this:

So, I had to go back and make it snow. While it was a bummer to cover up all that grass (made with the custom brush), it really wasn’t too difficult to accomplish because of some of the techniques and work flow ideas I employed (learned from some great YouTube tutorials). I’ll do a blog post about all that in the near future.
