INKTOBER 2022 Day #2: SCURRY.

I’m pretty happy with this one, in terms of composition, rendering, and theme. This was the first time in probably at least ten years I have drawn anything related to my graphic novel Revery, and if felt great to do so. I keep pushing it to the back burner for other projects, largely because I have felt that my skills were not where I want them to be in order to work on it. Truthfully, I will never be happy with where my skills are, so at some point in the near future, I’m just going to break down and bring this story to life.

The non-Plunger Monkey characters are Adarax, the Cobbly (the short chap “driving” the bug and sporting the Calvin hair) and a Panda Beetle, which are a common mode of transportation for Cobblies. Back in 2011ish when I finally started getting into my studio a little more, my wife handed me a Wacom tablet and a copy of Photoshop. The story of Revery had been forming in my Brain for a while, so, while learning how to use my new tools, I sat down and began drawing concept art for this story. Among a few other illustrations, I drew Adarax as well as a small scene with two other Cobblies and their Panda Beetles, working for the Rogue Dream Squad (Revery takes place in a dimension that exists symbiotically with human dreams). I really want to start generating more concept art for the story and revisit my page thumbnails and make some edits (I have the whole thing thumbnailed out and even completed the pencils for the first 20ish pages a decade ago. All of that will need to be redone, though).
