INKTOBER 2022 Day #9: NEST.

PMD asking the important questions: Squid-chicken, or Chicken-squid? My Brain birthed this critter completely out of the blue while I was doodling and I had to turn it into a shirt. It was random and weird, so I loved it. When I was brainstorming for this prompt, I quickly gravitated to this idea. The challenge was how to make the Squid-chicken/chicken-squid into a hatchling and figuring out what the heck kind of nest it would be in.

I’m always looking to add details and to work on how to represent textures and shadows. While I’m never quite happy with the results, it’s still enjoyable to explore, and it’s often an exercise in patience. Certain things can’t be rushed. For instance, I didn’t have to draw every single little stone, I probably could have creatively used my line work to indicate and imply all the stones without spending so much time drawing each one. But, I decided I wanted to anyway. It was definitely a good exercise.
