INKTOBER 2024 Day #11: SNACKS.

“I used to love those little fruit snack packets. I don’t know that I could stomach them now, especially now that I know to read nutritional labels, but eating them is associated with some really fond childhood memories. I somehow hit the lottery with growing up in an amazing, tightly knit, and geographically close family. It feels like my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins all came together almost monthly when we were young to celebrate holidays and birthdays. I still love spending time with my family (and it doesn’t happen frequently enough anymore).
One of my mom’s sisters lived just two streets away from us, so not only did I get to go to school with some of my cousins, we spent time together on a semi-regular basis on weekends and stuff. They were the first of our family to get a home computer (yes, I’m that old), so my younger brother and I used to walk over to hang out and play computer games (like ‘Commander Keen’!) with our cousins. My aunt had a good stash of snacks that we’d all pick through while gaming, the most popular of which were ‘Ring Dings’ and some variety of fruit snacks. I can’t really think about fruit snacks without remembering those simpler days enjoying time with my family and creating so many shared memories.
And yeah, if I ever have the good fortune to enact all my crazy PMD merchandizing ideas, I will seriously consider plunger, banana, tentacle, and PMD fruit snacks. Probably with healthy ingredients, if that is even possible. I haven’t decided if the tentacle shapes will taste like tentacles or not, though.”
