INKTOBER 2024 Day #9: SUN.

“Alright, this is another multi-layered one! It’s PMD as SUN Wukong, and he’s complaining about the bright sun. Okay, so that’s only two layers, but two is more than one. I’ve drawn PMD as Sun Wukong before, it’s kind of a perfect match in my mind, but I really thought I had done it more than just one other time. I may have to work on that. For those that don’t know, Sun Wukong is the mischievous Monkey King in Chinese literature. He is massively popular and shows up in video games, novels, comics, movies, tv, etc. He first appeared as one of the main characters in the 16th century Chinese novel ‘Journey to the West’, and he was kind of like a superhero. He possessed all kinds of supernatural abilities like being able to support the weight of two heavy mountains while running with the speed of a meteor, traveling 34,000 miles in one somersault, shapeshifting, invisibility, and he can duplicate himself from strands of his hair. He also carries a magic staff that can morph from the size of a toothpick to that of a massive tree as well as fly and attack opponents on its own. Sounds like a pretty epic hero to me, and he’s a monkey. It doesn’t get much better than that. I originally had a much different idea for this prompt, which was PMD lying on a rock sunning himself next to a confused, plunger-wearing snake that was also attempting to catch some rays. I’m glad this idea came to me before I started working on that one.”
