Inktober 52 2024 Week #5: FISH

“If you don’t recognize Fishy McFishington of the Cloudsworth Fishingtons, you need to go read ‘It’s Plunger Monkey Dynamo Time’. PMD and I first encountered him sailing through the sky atop a stack of sentient pancakes, which Fishy was in hot pursuit of because they are his favorite meal. Now, having written that absurd sentence, one might expect me to follow up with ‘it would make more sense if you had read it’, but I’d be lying. ‘IPMDT’ started out as a complete stream-of-consciousness project. I didn’t do much planning ahead. It was simply supposed to be a means for me to practice comic work and hone my skills for future comic projects, which grew out of a self-portrait project I started to get better at drawing myself for future comic projects, which itself evolved from my first time participating in Inktober. It’s a complete circle now, or something. Or a fuller circle, since I’ve drawn Fishy for other Inktober prompts before, I just never stopped to make that connection until now, probably because of the pancakes.

What? I don’t get how my Brain works, either. I woke up one morning with a vision of a flying steampunk goldfish and by the afternoon I knew he was a part of ‘IPMDT’. I try not to question my Brain, I just do what it tells me to do.”
