Project Description

This is the current incarnation of my character Ostogri. As I mentioned in the initial concept piece, he’s more plant than human, and now he looks it. He was inspired by the beach trees in my yard, I love their corded, muscle-like look. Ostogri’s people have the ability to shape shift a little bit while they are still in their “sapling” stage, altering skin texture or limbs. Yes, I realize he looks a bit like Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy, but when I drew this several years ago, my only awareness of Guardians was that it was an old Marvel comic with a Raccoon in it. This is from the second page of my graphic novel, Revery, which Ostogri isn’t directly in. He just shows up in passing during a flowing dream sequence.
