WIP: Work In Progress

Alrighty, I'm adding another semi-regular blog entry called WIP, which stands for "work in progress". I thought it might be fun to share my process as it evolves as well as let people see what I'm currently working on, regardless of it's state of finish. The images from these posts won't make it into the gallery until the image is done, though. Hopefully it will give me more material to post about as well as help keep me on track and focused on finishing things, which can be tough when I have so many ideas and so many distra-look! Gallery Update: Happy Graduation, “Jack”! (and some other stuff)

Hey, maybe I'm back on track with site updates! Of course, this is the last week of school for my kids, so who knows what next week will bring. Anyway, I'm powering through a headache to bring you this: Better take the warning seriously... Hopefully this arrived in time for his college graduation party yesterday, otherwise...oops. One of my cousins, who really shouldn't be old enough because time shouldn't be moving forward, graduated from college recently. His family threw him a party yesterday, but, being 2+ hours away and busy, we weren't able to attend. But, I did

Studio Stuff: Best Manliness and Excuses for My Absence…

Well, technically it's Thursday...not quite 2 weeks since the last time I should have posted...so, here you go: So, um, yeah. I've been busy. This little project started as a fun idea, but I got carried away, figuring I owed something special for missing so many updates. I improved some of my skills and learned quite a few new tricks, many of which will be applicable to some actual digital drawing and painting. This was quite fun, though tedious, and there's a lot more painting in these than you might expect. Generating the light sabers was pretty easy and quick.

Gallery Update: Sketches, Random Doodle-age and Some Stuff

I got to do a bit of non-digital drawing this weekend, which is always nice. I've been wanting to get outside to do some drawing again, and I finally had an opportunity/excuse. My generous and awesome wife took the kids to a local park while I did some chores before meeting up with them and their friends. Once I got there, they ended up taking off to sell some popcorn for Cub Scouts for a short while, leaving me at the park with my sketch book, pens, and markers. It was really nice to just sit, observe, and draw. I

Gallery Update: Happy Birthday, Happy Wedding Anniversary…and Squids…

Memorial Day turned out to be very busy for me and my family, so this site update is a day late. First, I have to wish my memere a very happy 94th birthday! I miss you, and here's to 94 more! Secondly, an equally Happy First Anniversary to my cousin and his lovely wife. Sometime in 2013, they approached me and asked if I'd be willing to help them design their wedding invitations. Family is my top priority, so of course I said "yes". The water has big significance in their individual and shared lives, so they really wanted a

Gallery Update: Random Doodleage…and another reveal…

Still not ready for the PMD themed post (I won't say retrospective again...wait...), still too much editing and still hoping to get a few pictures or scans of some PMD cards I've sent out over the years. In the meantime I'm edging closer to getting my shirt designs uploaded, which is inching me closer to opening the "shop". I'm also designing some shirts for my oldest son's Boy Scout troop and trying to source a local print shop to handle the job. Anywhat, I thought I'd add some more random art to the gallery. The Vampire Banana featured above was
